Parent Education
Our Parent Education provides parents with information about developmental disabilities such as autism, the resources that are available to them, and the differences between the strategies used to parent a neurotypical child versus a neurodivergent child. In doing so, we equip and empower families to grow in a healthy way. This service is funded by North Los Angeles Regional Center (NLACRC).
More specifically, parent education is provided on:
- ABA,
- antecedents and consequences,
- identifying the functions of the problem behavior,
- positive reinforcement and behavior contingencies,
- prompting,
- natural cues, and
- natural environments in order to promote generalization.
- consistent implementation of Behavior Intervention Program (BIP)
Our Parent Education classes consist of 16 hours of formal instruction, including homework.
Under special circumstances classes may be provided within a one-to-one format. Typically, however, they are provided in small groups of up to 6 parents for 4 hours per session, four times in a one month period. Classes are conducted both on weekdays as well as weekends, depending on availability.
